Your first visit

Nothing is cut or mixed until we've talked. Here's how a first appointment at Marram goes.

  1. The consultationTen minutes at the mirror. Bring photos of what you love and what you don't. You leave it with a price and a time, in writing if you like.
  2. The skin testNew to colour with us? A five-minute visit at least 48 hours before, as the colour makers instruct.
  3. The appointmentYour stylist, the price you were quoted, and a blow-dry at the end so you see the colour the way you'll wear it.

Our prices depend on who you book with. Choose a level and the menu changes to it. Every price is confirmed at your consultation.

"Colour is the part people remember. The cut is the part they live with. We give both the same time."

Ada trained in Sydney, coloured for a decade on Darby Street and opened Marram in 2017 with two chairs. There are six now, and she still takes clients on Thursdays and Saturdays.

In their words

Sample reviews: this is a demo salon. A real site shows the salon's own Google reviews.

"I came in with box-dye orange and a lot of fear. Two appointments later it's the soft honey blonde I asked for, and nobody once made me feel silly about the box."

Hannah, Merewether · Colour correction

"Mika cut my curls dry, one at a time. First haircut in years I didn't have to fix at home."

Priya, Hamilton · Curly cut

"They told me what the balayage would cost before they mixed a thing, and it was exactly that at the desk."

Laura, The Junction · Balayage

Your questions

Where is Marram Hair in The Junction?

We're on Kenrick Street, The Junction NSW 2291, the village street with the post office, between Bar Beach and Cooks Hill. There's street parking around the village, within the time limits on the signs, and the nearest stop is on Union Street, opposite St Joseph's Primary School.

How much is a haircut at Marram Hair?

A cut and blow-dry is $75 with a graduate stylist, $95 with a senior and $120 with a director. A curly cut, done dry, is $95 to $140, and a men's cut is $45 to $65. The full menu, by stylist level, is on our services and prices page.

What's the difference between a graduate, senior and director stylist?

It's experience, and the price follows it. Graduates are qualified and in their first years on the floor, with every colour checked by a senior. Seniors have five years or more behind the chair. Directors are our most experienced colourists and cutters.

Do I need a skin test before a colour appointment?

If you're new to colour with us, yes. The colour makers' instructions call for a skin test at least 48 hours before, so we book a five-minute visit first. Tell us at the consultation if you've ever reacted to hair dye.

When is the salon open?

Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9am to 5:30pm, Thursday 9am to 8pm, and Saturday 8am to 3pm. We're closed Sunday and Monday. Saturday mornings and Thursday evenings book out first.

Will I know the price before you start?

Yes, always. Every appointment starts with a consultation at the mirror, and we tell you the price and the time it will take before anything is cut or mixed. If something changes on the day, we stop and tell you first.
